I respect your opinion. My point is that to try to stay focused for a beginner is why so many fail. A quiet mind is meditation. When the Nice real Women Love Baseball Smart Women Love The Kansas City Royals Players 2023 Shirt Furthermore, I will do this mind is quiet, the focus and awareness comes on it’s own. There are many forms of meditation but having the goal “to have a quiet mind” is counter-productive imo. Because when the mind is not quiet, then you have aversion. For beginners especially, I like the Vipassana approach. The goal is stop reacting to pleasant sensation with craving/clinging and unpleasant sensation with aversion. You do this by observing or noticing whatever is arising and just feel what that feels like in your body. You completely missed the point. Doing “nothing” means not forcing anything. Not trying to explicitly focus on your thoughts or your breath etc. Just let every thought happen on their own, while you breathe. That is a more healthier view for a beginner in my opinion.

Maybe it’s just me who is able to breathe Nice real Women Love Baseball Smart Women Love The Kansas City Royals Players 2023 Shirt Furthermore, I will do this a little deeper, and at the same time just letting your mind do it’s thing. Eventually the mind becomes more quiet, but not if one forces it to do any specific thing. Just breathe and let everything happen on it’s own. That is my own experience. I think it’s worthwhile to distinguish between mindfulness/awareness practice where people meditate with the goal of improving their health in some way, vs the nondual meditation of the zen or dzogchen tradition where the goal is insight/waking up/headlessness/becoming a Buddha and any added health benefits are just a bonus. The end goal of all of those meditation practices is the same, they just approach it in a different way. The Buddha himself reached Nirvana by applying mindfulness to Jhana practice.
