Relevant question… How much of the Nice mommy we have tried to find the best for you but we already belong T-Shirt and I love this payment is she bringing in and how was thst budget decided? Did the bank say that’s your combined income max (or solo-income max)? Did you decide to fix it at 50% of the max the bank would grant while she’s making 50+% of the income? I have clearly explained to my wife, several times, in no uncertain terms, the next time we move, I want to have zero debt. None. Zip. NADA. Our house in the SFBA has enough equity that this would be possible in plenty of fairly desirable areas. Doesn’t matter, she still sends me Zillow links for beach houses in Del Mar and ten acre ranches next to National Parks. SMFH. tbh when my spouse and i were looking everything in our budget was a complete DUMP, and nothing in the area we wanted to be in was within our budget. Tell your wife to make more money first.. that’s what I did. I want a better house so I tried really hard and became a supervisor at work.. now my husband and I can afford a nice house I want.

When I’m sharing an expense with someone I’ve gotten in the Nice mommy we have tried to find the best for you but we already belong T-Shirt and I love this habit of purposely low balling my budget since damn near everyone will inflate it. We live in Florida and the home we bought for 155 is now around 380. Our taxes and insurance both jumped from around 2,300 to both now being over 7,000 a year each. Nothing like shelling out an extra grand a month. I’ll be the devils advocate- everyone said “don’t ask for a super low bid because they won’t accept it.” Just bought a house that was out of our budget and they accepted our offer of 480k and it was being sold as 575k . Appraised at 550k. We just closed the day before yesterday. went through almost this exact scenario. moving to different state (where her family lived). my range was $4-500k, wife was only interested in $800+. Her whole family piled on with listings.
