it’s ok. everything gets lost in translation on reddit. you make great points so i kinda knew that you had a good understanding of what you were talking about. i just wanted to clear up not necessarily for you but for anyone that read it and thought maybe there was a chance they didn’t have to be strip searched. Just know that they aren’t judging your body and they see so many bodies of all types of conditions that you will not stand out to them. Also that like it depends upon your charges and your city/county as to whether they will strip search you at all. I second this. I actually have been to both prison and police station lockup, and have been strip searched a few times. They don’t give a shit about your body. It’s just a boring job to them. Be polite and do exactly what they say when they say to do it and they will treat you with dignity.

Unfortunately, your last sentence isn’t 100% true. I’ve been to both prison and county lock up also. Not everyone treats you with dignity. There are a lot of shitty people that work as correctional officers. They abuse their power just because they can. I’m not saying everyone is like that, but many a guard will treat you like shit on their shoe. No matter how polite and cooperative you are. ETA – Here in NC, if you have a warrant and you go turn yourself in. You won’t be stripped if you’re going to bail out soon. (Unless someone thinks you might have weapons or drugs hidden on you. ) If you’re not bailed out in a certain time frame, they will then take you to be “dressed out,” meaning you take everything off, clothes, jewelry, hair ties, etc… You have to turn in a circle with your arms up, shake out your hair, open your mouth and stick out your tongue and spread your legs wide and squat, and cough. Then they issue you a sports type bra, undies, socks, shower shoes, and a lovely blue and white striped jumpsuit (If you’re female, the Nice mike Piazza New York M Offset Signature T-Shirt in addition I really love this males get an orange and white striped one). You also get your bedding, (A scratchy blanket, a fitted sheet for your mat and a bag of toiletries.) You see the nurse and then they take you to your cell/bunk depending on if you’re in a dorm like pod or one with individual cells. Again, this is one jail in NC. You could always call the detention center or wherever you’re going and ask them what their procedures are. Good luck to you.
