To counter the News Flash Buddy This Is Your Last Rodeo Shirt in other words I will buy this “haha then why dont you kill urself, gotcha” argument, well a lot of people find death terrifying, a lot of people find life terrifying, so, as to not subject anyone without their consent to those fears, they simple dont make them exist. Thats it really. Their position is to reduce suffering. By unaliving themselves they cause suffering to themselves and their family and friends. It’s the difference between opt-in and opt-out. If, say, getting punched in the face was opt-out, I’d be pretty annoyed that getting punched in the face was the default even though I can choose not to. Humans are wired to be afraid of painful death. If there is a button that I could press and immediately disappear, I will in an instant.

This entire exercise is just to say that antinatalists that are still here (and suicidal people) may very well want to get out, they need to fight millennia of evolution that fight against it and a society that doesn’t want you to die on your own terms. Most people don’t realize this and just go “hurr durr die then lol” without understanding how fucking difficult it is.
