Something similar just happened to me. I was a contractor, however. I was offer a perm at a whooping $60k less. I tried to negotiate but they were firm at the New Poster For Netflix Live Action One Piece Series The Pirates Are Coming Shirt (watermarked) in other words I will buy this number. Given the market I took the hit, but shit. Go to your internal job board (LinkedIn pulls form these things) and find the listing. See if you can find it with the targeted salary on it. Print it out and take it back and say that it’s your number. They can give you the 116 or really start interviewing but unless you get the 116, you are no longer doing that job going forward. There is a very good chance they don’t intend to offer that salary to anyone. They can find a good candidate and say “thank you, our best offer is XYZ” and hope they because everyone’s desperate the candidate doesn’t have enough self respect to walk.

Good chance POs in tech are not desperate and the New Poster For Netflix Live Action One Piece Series The Pirates Are Coming Shirt (watermarked) in other words I will buy this whole tech recession thing is greatly exaggerated. Good POs who won’t cause your team to quit are gold. I missed this if you mentioned it, but if the posting is for say a PM2 and you only have enough experience to realistically be a PM1, that could explain it. They may have decided that you’d do good in the role but also decided to knock it down a level. They could have also done something lame, or “unofficial”, where they made up a “junior PM” role for you, and maybe HR in the background is puttering around to make that an official thing. Because they are a bunch of cunts and HR is a bunch of cunts. They are exerting leverage on you because you work there already, and if they had to bring in an external person they would have to pay more. That doesn’t matter to them, though, they enjoy fucking you over and will laugh about it amongst themselves later. It’s always the same story with these people, it’s like they get printed from some giant corporate shit-spewing machine, then come out sprouting bullshit like “family values” or “value add”.
