Anyone notice they already hinted riddlers room when it pan out from the Never Give Up Fight Cancer Awareness Elephant Shirt and I will buy this lounge early in the movie? You can see a silhouette at the window with the lights you can see the silhouette of riddler watching the club with his telescope when they cut to a wide shot of the building, street and the iceberg club in the beginning of the movie lol (just before selina was looking for a taxi I believe after leaving the club) everything up to and including selina confronting falcone was great. the movie really starts to stutter from there though. i thought falcone owning gotham’s justice system would be much more of an obstacle given how much it’s built up in act 1. instead gordon just says “not all cops” and the theme of corruption is completely abandoned for the rest of the film. it’s a shame too, because it would’ve been a really good opportunity to reinforce how the riddler’s solution of killing these guys is completely justified in his mind. and the last act with the stadium feels really tacked on and pointless. the conversation batman has with riddler in arkham, along with the implication that the riddler has copycats/henchmen is much stronger than yet another action sequence where batman beats up a bunch of faceless goons. if it had skipped the stadium stuff and still ended on the scene with selina at the end, it would’ve been 10/10 imo

Paul Dano was so fucking good and such a perfect villain for what Matt Reeves was going for with this that I can’t imagine a sequel being nearly as good unless he is in it. I have a few small reservations about this one but overall, entire movie fucking ripped. It’s a great movie, but far from perfect. I wasn’t a big fan of this Bruce…I understand the Never Give Up Fight Cancer Awareness Elephant Shirt and I will buy this deliberate story choice, but I felt he wasn’t dynamic enough as a character and was just kind of unreactive and mopey at times. Hopefully the ending marks a shift in his character…it’s a character arc I can appreciate even if I didn’t always enjoy the character getting there. Luckily, Pattinson’s Batman is probably the best live action Batman — a real detective who is still learning how to be Batman. I would love to see this Bruce and Batman evolve and be more fully formed in the sequel. I thought Catwoman and Penguin were pretty great. I love Dano, but I think his Riddler at times came off a little over the top. I’m not sure where I place this amongst the Batman movies, but it’s somewhere up there in the top 3. The way it ends really sets up what could be a fantastic sequel after the groundwork that was set here.
