I successfully convinced my son that I have a medical condition which, ironically, makes it impossible for me to lie An old friend said she had read the entire Lord of the rings trilogy by herself by the time she was two. We gave her loads of chances to just basically say ‘yeah that was a dumb thing to say I don’t know why I even said that’ but she stuck by this impossible lie like her life depended on it for the rest of the time that I was friends with her and I have no idea why
