My mom bought my a polyester dress and there was a storm underneath it. Modern polys are so much more breathable but you gotta pay for that. Breathability has more to do with the weave than the fabric itself. The dress my mom bought me was a 100% woven poly that tends to be called ‘satin’ or ‘silky’. That actually just refers to how it was woven and gives the fabric its shiny, smooth texture with very little stretch. Woven polyester has very low breathability.

Workout clothes are typically made of knitted poly blends. For example, lululemons fabrics are made of poly nylon spandex knitted blends.
