It boils down to this. Life is a net positive for most people. Therefore, having kids is a net positive in and of itself. And yet if happiness is a positive, then more happy people is better than fewer, no? Certainly we should strive to make people happier on the Naptown Road Warriors Shirt in other words I will buy this whole, but is it better to create happiness or to create nothing for fear that there might become unhappiness? Happiness is your brain on dopamine, it’s literally nothing more than a chemical reaction when a person’s needs are met. When you’re deprived of those needs, that’s called suffering. Those needs however are created upon birth, before birth there was no need for happiness, and no possibility for suffering. You don’t “create happiness” you create a demand for resources (food, care etc) and when those demands have been met that’s called happiness. Wow, this is crazy. I thought anti natalist were just “dont give birth if that that new life is just going to regret being born”. But after reading your last two replies im starting to think anti-natalists are just people with standard depression, dressing it up with over-intellectualized essays that don’t actually refute the points skeptics brought up. Or maybe the ones on reddit are just contrarian/devils advocates that are not that invested in the belief, and are just here looking to kill time

The fact that we are born into bodies which vehemently refuse if we wish to end our lives is just another box to tick. Technically difficult no. Letting off the Naptown Road Warriors Shirt in other words I will buy this very last mental brake in order to pull the trigger, yes that is difficult. Also, unless you actually have a connection, it’s difficult to use the most peaceful method (deadly drugs) The existence of a mind and body makes one depended on happiness and pleasure it is not like they have a choice they NEED something to be pleasent they NEED something to not cause pain and all of this results in a constant loop of chase and loose Its not like they are living because it is pleasent its just they are not dying because it is painful and the possibility of making their existence even more painful
