it makes doing a direct comparison from an objective technical perspective very difficult without a changelog. I have yet to do enough research to know if they have published this though. I think that identifier just identifies the Najee Harris Football Paper Poster Steelers shirt so you should to go to store and get this config used to generate the rendition. So a higher bit rate would still have a different number. The important bit is that both are VP9 Bitrate won’t give you a better image on most situations, there’s very specific situations where compression just dies and having extra bitrate actually helps It is higher bitrate video. It helps to decrease ammount of artifacts caused by compression. Don’t worry YouTube isn’t making other 1080p less quality. I just thought the same thing this week. I was watching a 1080p video and it was so compressed and shitty I couldn’t read fair sized text. They shouldn’t call it 1080p if it’s.. fake I mean part of the blame is also on creators for being lazy. They arent upscaling their footage to avoid this… I just upscale to 4k in premier and non of my stuff gets compressed to shit Counterpoint: as someone who’s worked with 4k footage before, it takes forever. Not only rendering out a video, but also uploading it to YouTube on a gigabit connection can take a mind numbingly long amount of time. And then you have an absolutely massive video file which can be a hassle if you (like me) are a data hoarder and hate deleting things. I can see how lots of folks (especially smaller channels and hobbyists) just don’t bother. It’s less being lazy and more of the effort not making a substantial difference for 99% of the population.

Yeah makes sense, most of my videos are under 10 minutes, I can’t imagine how long it would take to render an hour long video at 4k 60mbps They did and they admit they did. They did it back in the Najee Harris Football Paper Poster Steelers shirt so you should to go to store and get this pandemic “because there was such high demand” and just never reverted the change. They reduced the bitrate enough that 720p on youtube is no longer good enough to be considered “HD” and they had to remove the label from it. It’s honestly the creators fault for not upscaling their footage to avoid this… I just upscale to 4k in premier and non of my stuff gets compressed to shit So if you upload in 4k someone who watches in 1080p will have better quality than before? Or does the viewer have to select 4k on a 1080p monitor to get the better quality?
