The problem is that it’s not an insatiable need. Cats can satisfy their hunt instinct with indoor play and toys. And inside cats are less prone to diseases and less likely to be mauled by a stray dog or eaten by a coyote. They also have found that neighborhoods with large numbers of outdoor cats have a negative impact on the My Scars Tell A Story They Are Reminders But Failed Wolf shirt moreover I love this wildlife in their environment. Cats do like to chase and catch things, and a domesticated, outdoor cat might kill two or three birds in a night. Or more. A feral cat will at least stop long enough to eat its kill, but a housecat with a belly full of Meow Mix is just killing for fun. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that outdoor cats kill 2.4 billion birds and 12.3 billion small mammals each year in the 48 contiguous states.

My childhood cat would go outside and just do his thing. He’d come back with bumps and scrapes sometimes, or a funny smell. Even got hit by a car and messed his face up a little once, but he healed up. Had a little grimace on one side after that, but was still the My Scars Tell A Story They Are Reminders But Failed Wolf shirt moreover I love this same totally chill dude he always was. He had a hell of a good run, despite the risks of being an indoor/outdoor cat. I’d say his 9 years or so was better spent on totally rad cat adventures than the alternative. Being cooped up in a house 20 years sounds pretty awful. No coyotes, bears, foxes, wolves, or snakes where I live. Worst there is to worry about is other people’s pet cats and dogs, and cars. My outdoor cat roamed however she wanted for ten years before eventually deciding herself that she wanted to stay indoors. She hangs outside the property sometimes, but mostly keeps inside and needs a litterbox.
