His medals were …stripped? By the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this corps that he fought for…? Weird. Aged 12, or 80, if he did things to deserve those medals I don’t see why they should’ve been revoked & taken. There’s so many more stories to know about Calvin’s life. I don’t think “mom” saw him on a newsreel, she was just a bitch who squealed on him. He and his bro had moved into a boarding house to get away from the abusive home. He took a face full of shrapnel so his medical benefits were stripped too. He married and divorced by 17 then joined the Marines! He died of CHF at 62 but the Purple Heart was finally given to his widow. The Navy needs to give his medals back to him, he earned them the same as anyone else did, albeit very underage lmao. He went in with some friends that were 14-16 singing up. He kind of slipped in with that group. The dentist inspecting his teeth gave him some shit about how young he was but let him though.

Holy shit – Guadalcanal was one of (if not THE) hardest battles in the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this Pacific theatre. Come on!!!! I hope his citations were reinstalled! “Whoops, it looks like you performed these acts of heroism at an age a few years below the limit. We therefore decide your actions were not heroic and strip you of your medals” Look up the 14 year old 82nd airborne WW2 paratrooper who jumped into combat twice only for his mom or parents to find out he joined He may have had a rare genetic mutation that causes testotoxicosis, also known as precocious puberty. The writer of the attached article had this mutation as did his father and grandfather who was able to join the military in his early teens. A 4 year old trapped in a teenagers body.

It’s ironic there’s people here that wouldn’t agree about a 12 year old not being old enough to do any other things but agree with this story being fine. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter reinstated Graham’s military honors—minus the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this Purple Heart—and granted him an honorable discharge for his Navy service Any reason why the Purple heart was intentionally left out? it was reinstated later, but it seems weird to be left out. It’s absolutely insane to think, that back then you could just be like “yup, I’m 18,” and they’d just hand you papers and then send you to one of the most horrific battles of all time. My grandpa was a dentist at an induction station in WW2. They were often the ones that caught the underage kids trying to enlist. They could usually tell your age by looking at the molars. My Pop Pop lied about his age to enlist to impress my Mom Mom who was just his girlfriend at the time. He was 17. He was a combat medic and took a bullet in the Battle of the Bulge while he was sewing up injured soldiers under heavy machine gun fire. They tried to give him a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star and he declined because he told his mom he was a Chaplain’s assistant and was very far from the front lines. He had to find battlefield witness to testify that he declined the medals and to his actions that day and got the medals when he was in his 60s

If he was outed while he was still underage, just give him an honorable discharge and let him re-enlist when he’s the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this right age. Then count his previous service towards his total years of service. It was so easy not to screw up that situation. Stripped? They should have given him another medal! But then again, they probably don’t want to admit they enlisted a 12 year old. Or encourage other children to join… except via video games. How did he end up joining and passing at 12??? Run away from home, walk in smoking a cigarette and holding a coffee saying that they stunted his growth? Man, meanwhile, my grandfather at 16 got injured by a nearby explosion during training for the Navy and they got his real age in the hospital and gave him an “other than honorable” discharge before he could even get deployed. Some kids have all the fun.

About this My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt

He was supposedly bigger for his age. That plus, at the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this time lots of kids were malnourished/not properly fed, so they were undersized, he blended in with other 16-17 year olds that were signing in early. The real problem was the dentist, you cant fake that. But he blackmailed him saying that he already cleared all the other 16-17 year olds, so he best clear him too. When people say there are no atheists in foxholes I think about my friend who lied about his age at 15 and enlisted ton the Navy. He admitted you can’t dig a foxhole into a destroyer deck but said he wanted to try. There wasn’t a DCS back then and think how bad it was to be called abuse in the 1940’s when you were expected to physically discipline children.
By 17, the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this “baby vet” was a divorced father with few job prospects and no service record. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1948, serving for three years before breaking his back in a fall. While his Corps service allowed Calvin Graham to qualify as a veteran, he spent the rest of his life fighting for his benefits and awards. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter reinstated Graham’s military honors—minus the Purple Heart—and granted him an honorable discharge for his Navy service. President Ronald Reagan later approved disability benefits for Graham. I can just imagine the naval officer that recruited him pretending to be surprised when he’s told that the obviously 12 year old kid is not a strapping lad of 18. How does one earn medals in the navy? 8 medals at age 12 sounds like a lot; either the kid was a phenomenon or medals are kinda participation trophies (inb4 permaban for disrespect army folks)
In World War II, he earned the My Hope is in the lamb American Flag Scripture Elephant Donkey US T-Shirt But I will love this a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, a Navy Unit Commendation with a service star for his ship’s service at the battle of Santa Canal, an American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two service stars, and a World War II Victory Medal. In Korea he earned a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and a Republic of Korea War Service Medal. In terms of medals awarded for actions in combat, he along with the entire crew of the USS South Dakota were awarded a Navy Unit Commendation Medal for the ship’s performance during the battle of the Santa Cruz and a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for him getting injured during the battle of Guadalcanal while delivering a message to an officer.
