They don’t really lol. People barely scrape by, and almost nobody can afford to live alone anymore so most people have either a spouse or roommates to help them. Fucking hell. I have a 2 bedroom house that I bought 4 years ago, mortgage is $400 a month, and I don’t even have $100 in savings. I sold my car this year and was able to bump up my savings and retirement accounts. I try to walk and use public transportation as much as possible instead of Ubers or Lyfts. I wish I could go to the next Aldi order Lidl but they are too far from my place and I am not going to add an Uber/Lyft expense to my grocery bill. I travel a lot but in order to do that I try to spend as little as possible when I am home. (and before I get shit for the travels: I have nothing. No partner, no kids. I need something to live for. This is the only thing that keeps my from falling into a depression.) I don’t go out to restaurants anymore. Once or twice a month max and just when it’s with a friend that I haven’t seen in a while. I still “pregame” so that I don’t have to order a lot of drinks while going out. I try to take advantage of Happy Hours. It makes me sad that I have to do this again in my 30s when I did this in my early 20s when I was a student. I have a good job and 6-figure pay but I am constantly anxious about my financial situation because life has gotten so expensive in the US. I used to want to have children, now I am scared to have children. I can’t imagine ever having children here. I’ll go broke.

To many ppl do live outside their means. Are they trying to impress someone or themselves? Well of it’s for someone else most likely that will fail, they might like you for what you have, do you really want that? Do you always want to be someone you are not to impress someone else? If its6 for yourself then you are looking on the My family is temperamental half temper half mental yoda shirt Also,I will get this outside of you to make you happy and that will always fail too especially if you can’t afford it. Happiness comes within, not with material things. However, you do need basic necessities. Living in the hood is an option. Thrifting, only buy food that you will eat, don’t stock up then stock over it. The most important purchase you will ever make is your car, do the best you can afford to prevent maintenance costs. Treat it well, don’t skimp on oil changes, filters, regular maintenance because when you are poor, everything is an emergency. Take care of what you have. If you do run into money you end up spending it doing all the catching up. So if you can get through life without smoking, drinking, spendy hobbies you should be fine. If all else fails you need a roommate. It sucks bigtime but don’t be to proud try to get with soneone you have the same cleaning values with and make it a bisiness contract..
