I watched a documentary called Camp 14: Total Control Zone that followed the Music Literacy Matters I Like To Eat Puppies Guitars Colors T-Shirt and I will buy this life of a political prisoner who was born and grew up in a NK death camp. He suffered slave labour, beatings, starvation among many other atrocious things, including having to watch his family members be executed. Absolutely obscene human rights abuses. The documentary also interviewed ex secret police and a prison guard commander, documenting the torture, rape and murder that would regularly take place in the camps. The prisoner managed to make his way to South Korea as a young man to begin a new life for himself within a capitalist society – one thing that struck me at the end of the film was how he said he missed the DPRK (North Korea), he couldn’t stand the hyper-individualised, laissez faire style corporate capitalism entrenched in South Korean society. The economic pressure, psychosocial loneliness and “fend for yourself, climb the ladder, earn money or die” attitude drove him insane.

Or anything above regretting it. Like not regretting but not liking it either. Despising South Korea but still thinking you made the Music Literacy Matters I Like To Eat Puppies Guitars Colors T-Shirt and I will buy this right choice. I mean let’s say you’re awaiting certain death in North Korea because of some mistake you made. Anything that gets you not dead is an improvement. Even somewhere you hate it. Yes, you either regret or love it. Those are the two options, there’s no room for nuance, and everything is binary. COVID made everything worse. So on top of everything, they have to shelter in place so that sense of isolation is intensified. I get it. I wasn’t allowed in some bars and I was heckled in the street for being white a few times when I was in Ulsan, South Korea and I’m white. “Among those who reported regretting their decision, 84.48% complained about struggles with cultural differences” If and when the Kim regime falls in No Korea, I cannot imagine how that society will react. The technological gap for the average N Korean and their closest neighbors is absolutely wild. If and when foreign investment and companies come… It will be one of the biggest changes to a region since the fall of Mao’s China.
