Was on a long weekend to York, visited a gin/alcohol shop. Shop assistant starts talking to my 7 year old whilst I’m browsing about plans for the Mr. Irrelevant love football shirt and by the same token and day etc, says “did you drive here”, son replies “no, dad drove”. Proud moment A guy I knew sold expensive rugs. One day a large lady was being shown a selection. She bends over and lets out a loud fart. ‘Oh I’m so sorry’ she says. In 1975 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded, I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat with a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies – buckaroo! When I sat down on the chair, I looked up and realised it was none other than Peter Purves! It was at the height of his Blue Peter fame. He said “You jammy bastard!” and quick as a flash, I replied, “Don’t be blue, Peter!” Yes, he’s shortened “No, I’m not waiting for the midwife, for some reason I haven’t managed to get pregnant yet” to simply “Not happened yet” for brevity and humour (it’s much funnier than spelling it out)
