I wouldn’t know cause I’m a bartender, but I have been researching a career change and asking around. If I’m applying for an entry level gig that requires an associates degree, I’ll include my bachelor’s degree. If I’m applying for one that requires a highschool degree, I may leave it out and lean on my job experience. Seeing that you landed and completed a UN internship means I’m not going to bother training you to be a bar back unless I only need you for the Motorhead Poster Shirt In addition,I will do this summer, you know? I know you aren’t planning to stick around. Frustrating, I know. If it makes you feel any better I have 3+ years of experience and have been rejected for 37 jobs I am overqualified for It’s okay boss some companies won’t take “over qualified” folk for positions out of fear they may not feel challenged/fulfilled by the role and are likely to find higher paying, more attractive positions from other companies. I know the job market sucks but dont get caught up on not getting a job you’re over qualified for. It doesn’t mean you need to go even FURTHER below your qualifications or anything like that.

I’ve got a Bachelor’s, Masters, and 10+ years of experience. I hardly even get calls/emails anymore. You’re not alone. Have you looked at petroleum maintenance companies? My mom was a book keeper for one and they had a GIS guy, a geologist, and a mechanical engineer. Shell is one of my customers and they have GIS personnel. Not sure where else to refer you other than USAJOBS. Do not be discouraged friend. Persistence pays off just keep at it. Are you mechanically inclined? You might be able to find a machine shop that is willing to train you and pay you. Or you could try getting into one of you local government agencies. Or heck there’s a driver shortage for cdl trucking you could do that and easily make 60k+ a year Lol this is insane. Dude has a masters and experience in a technical field. There’s no planet where this dude should have to pivot and start over. The reason they got denied is probably because they are overqualified. I don’t imagine anyone is going to want to waste money and time training a machinist that is just going to leave for a cushy government job in a couple months either. Am I tripping here? Your advice sounds great for people like me who don’t have experience or education in their chosen field, but not this dude.
