I’m 32. I finally managed to buy a very small, admittedly shitty/poorly built house with my wife last year. I can just about afford everything (bills, food, etc). We’ve given up on kids. It’ll never be financially viable for us. It feels almost intentional at this point. The system has been working for the Mom Ster Halloween Shirt also I will do this rich since Ronald Reagan took office and I highly doubt we’ll ever see any leadership in my lifetime correct his wrongs. You are the only sane comment on this thread, so far. It’s not the evil “boomers” or some other Slenderman, it is a system. When I hear people bitch about it, they need to remember, the voting bloc with the most numbers, will not come out and vote. You know who does vote? Angry older people in Florida who think furries are taking over and trans people are going to come get their patriot stick … If young people would vote Republicans out, every election from local to national/federal, things will change. Keep not coming out at your own peril. The more Republicans make it to high places, the worse your lives will be. Sometimes I try to imagine what it must have been like back then, when working my 48hr a week job would have meant all my basic needs were met plus I had extras for fun things. I have what would have been considered a good, middle-class, job for my grandparents. Now they can’t understand why I am not able to buy a house, take vacations, etc.

I have tried explaining what it is like to them and that now my job means I am barely able to pay my bills. This is with living in the Mom Ster Halloween Shirt also I will do this cheap area of the city and driving an old car. They just think I am lying or accuse me of making bad financial decisions. My family have just about dragged themselves out of poverty with my parents being the richest nowadays. They aren’t rolling in money but they aren’t struggling anymore. Baring in mind they worked so hard all their lives they didn’t get that money from working. It was inheritance left by a great uncle who worked the same job his entire life, had no wife, no kids, no car, no holidays and lived in a little council flat in a backwards part of town.
