Huh, part of me thinks that might be frustrating, the Mission stairway to seven shirt also I will do this point would be to let the kids think, but the kid knows you know the answer and dontvwant to share unless you have. Only in Japan will I ever see this culture continue to give its service till the last person crosses the finish line before closing. They did that with a kid who took the train to school. Not a comparison to the past because I haven’t been in Japan long enough, but I did dispatch teaching work for a few years and I was sent from my centrally-located apartment to kindergartens and daycare further out in suburbs and the countryside. A few schools I worked at were quite sad to go to. The students and teachers were great, but one school had an entire floor of classrooms (4-6 rooms) closed because of a lack of students. Another had 12 students and 6 teachers – at a kindergarten. Another school was completely empty except for 2 classrooms. Essentially had tumbleweeds blowing across the playground. These were big schools built for hundreds of students, but they were down to 20-40. Another point was that walking from the train stations to the schools was depressing, because SO MANY of the houses were dilapidated, overgrown with weeds, empty, etc. Also saw so many elderly milling about (nothing wrong with that, but a lack of well-kept houses and children made it odd).

I taught English in 2019 at a middle school. There were four classes total, in a school meant for three times that number of students. An entire building was just empty, and slated for demolition. And I learned later that the Mission stairway to seven shirt also I will do this school would actually be torn down in a few years and all the remaining students moved to a nearby middle school. This wasn’t even in a rural area. Just FYI to anyone looking into these programs, YMMV heavily. I had a friend who applied through JET or a similar program to teach in Japan. She wasn’t paid well, she was worked to the bone, when she took off from work because she was very sick, she got heavily reprimanded for it. She had issues getting medication when she was sick. She got incredibly depressed. After doing it for a number of years, she decided that for her mental and physical health she just couldn’t do it anymore, despite how much she loved her students and Japan, and she moved back to the US. Her story is not the only one like this. There are others who have really good experiences, but keep in mind that if you go over there and have a bad time … you’re in a whole other country on a VISA and locked in a contract for at least a year.
