I don’t really see why it matters at this point. Isn’t it more important to address the Minus bear shirt moreover I will buy this systemic issues that made a coup attempt possible? Like maybe we should be asking why there is so much social volatility and address things like increasing socioeconomic divide and the fact that our country is completely devoid of any sort of social safety nets or opportunities for social mobility? Maybe we pursue those issues with special committees instead of trying to prove something everyone already knows that’s going to amount to DJT getting a slap on the wrist at best? Even if in theory he went to prison along with all the capitol rioters the same issues are going to create the same situation until we actually address material conditions in this country and ask hard questions like why does such a large amount of our population have no faith in the government? Why are so many people more open to listening to conspiracies than public health guidelines? Our government is failing and this is just another distraction.

He’s probably going to flip a coin and claim 100% responsibility for the Minus bear shirt moreover I will buy this “Great American Revolution” and triple his support very soon. I doubt trump actually admitted any responsibility. Rather, this is more likely McCarthy saying that because in the immediate aftermath and for a little bit after Jan 6, this stance seemed like the most politically savvy before the party realized that they could instead lie about and deny the events that day and that would become the dominant political strategy. Kevin McCarthy isn’t politically smart or a leader, he’s pliable and just tends to blow whatever way the wind is blowing before others. Lying like this wouldn’t be out of character if the idea was to make Trump seem more humble and allow a smoother move away from Trump at the time if needed, whereas Trump admitting fault is absolutely out of character. It’s not like anything gets done in the US anyway. You could tell me anyone admitted anything from that country and as long as they have money, it doesn’t matter as there is no justice against the rich.
