It’s not all black-and-white though. In theory large DNA pool variety (including “bad” DNA) leads to faster evolution because more combinations are tried. Also having kids might consume all your time and money so you never become that genius scientist you could be otherwise. As others point out kids are freaking expensive so it is quite natural that someone poor (=not successful at anything at all) can not really afford them – natural selection at work. That’s why rich men are doing much better for instance. Then there is hubris. When you are on your death bed you may ask yourself – what have I accomplished? What do I leave behind? For many the Minion University shirt and by the same token and answer is “not much, really” so having the kids is kind of buying a lottery ticket in that if *they* (or your grand-children) are successful at anything then *your* life was worth it. So in the end – evolution does not care about you or your desires. Humanity is at the point where there is no shortage of DNA variety with or without yours. But sometimes it is worth having a different perspective.

I think it’s not often, but when you meet someone who also wants to be child free, the Minion University shirt and by the same token and excitement is so real and fun! This world is changing so fast. There is too much pressure on parents working wise. Day care is a night mare. Schools are over run by out of control kids. Teachers are leaving in droves. Both options are completely valid. You need to be well prepared to have kids and to really want them, not just because you are told you need them. – The future has always looked bleak, imagine the people who survived the black death in Europe with more than half the human population dead, they didn’t give up – Accumulating shiny stuff(better cars, bigger house, easy work schedule) will not make life fulfilling. It’s just stuff, I want the warmth of a family and the knowledge that I am leaving a lasting mark on the world. – If I am honest with myself, I wanted to escape responsibility. I wanted to not be held accountable for anyone or anything else, I wanted the easy way. But I found it to be a meaningless life. – Some say the world is over populated etc… as if me with my 1-2 kids are the ones that are going to throw it over the edge, and not the randos that have more than 9 kids and can’t afford to eat. I am not responsible for paying the price of other people’s negligence. On a side note, I encourage you as a woman to be absolutely sure about your decision as soon as possible, I know people on reddit might bite my head off for this. They’ll say things like “oh she can do invitro, there are medical procedures that can help past 35, I have a friend who did it”. Medical procedures are expensive, time consuming, tiresome, don’t always work and increase your chances of having your heart broken if they fail despite all the efforts. And all this is totally avoidable. And even though you are 25, if you do decide to then have kids, it is going to take some years of planning both financially and on a personal situation wise.
