I worked at a nursery once, and a guy came in working for “the Middleclassfancy Balanced Breakfast shirt and by the same token and church,” demanding free flowers and discounts and stuff. Throwing around papal authority, really, this old Italian dude. Well, I’m just as Italian as he is, and we told him he could pay for his product just like anyone else. He screamed and cursed and we had to ask him to leave and not return. Not saying that she feels entitled to charity from a store lime my guy was, but either way, you’re there to help customers, and customers exchange their custom for your goods. Sucks you can’t do anything about it. I would at least be condescending. If I were a manager I would stop selling those types of flowers for a few weeks and maybe she would go to Lowe’s If that’s the return policy, what’s the problem? Home Depot doesn’t care about refunding, employees get paid the same either way.

Then again my parents & grandparents will return power tools 20 years later (to places like Costco) and get full refunds or replacements Why even though? What could they possibly need different flowers every day and not plant them? It doesn’t even make sense as a scam. Like, you just putting in 800$ bucks and getting the Middleclassfancy Balanced Breakfast shirt and by the same token and same amount back, right? I mean most church events are planned. How do you not know what flowers you need? As a person it is quite disturbing the lack of thought on how this affects others. Is she buying like 5,000 dollars and returning 800? Or like 1,000 and returning 800? There is a big difference in acceptability there. The first example they are spending a ton of money with the store the other is a big wast of time. It would help clarify the situation a bit. In dealing with the returns everyday, I get how it sucks. If it’s pay-by-scan goods, it’s ultimately not your inventory but the florist/botanists’ goods. Mgmt DGAF since it won’t ZMA and affect comp.
