Thing is, the “pride” (and I’m sure you’re referring to LGBT and pride month, but this is the same for cis women and for people of colour or victimised nationalities etc.) is not only about that objective fact of your sex, sexuality, ethnicity or nationality that you’re proud of. You’re usually proud of the fact that you survived and thrive despite the situation you’re in.
