A guest decided to remove their cc before the Mickey Mouse Drinking Dunkin’ Donuts shirt in other words I will buy this final transaction went through. And airbnb told me they can’t do a single thing. I can’t even make a claim for that. So guest stayed for free for some time without paying without being penalized and I have to eat up the cost because someone fraudulently removed cc. They also damaged some items and I submitted claims for that. Rejected. I’m gonna try again. And there are tons of stories in online forums about how airbnb lately doesn’t pay out claims. I would check Vrbo unless they only gave you a credit for the cancelation and not an actual refund. I have had 3 Airbnb’s cancel or try to get me to move to a different date but so far that hasn’t happened on Vrbo.

Look – Airbnb is a peer to peer rental platform at the Mickey Mouse Drinking Dunkin’ Donuts shirt in other words I will buy this end of the day. They can cancel and that’s that. If you want guarantees book a hotel. I’m not a fan of people left out in the cold – as you were – but this is a matter of missed expectations, airbnb was never designed to be a guaranteed booking site, it’s just not it’s niche – even though people have come to expect it. Airbnb should perhaps market this more clearly – that people can cancel – but think about it from airbnbs perspective, are they supposed to come out of pocket to book you something else? This would invite tons of fraud. Should other hosts offer their spaces for the same price you paid? That’s not gonna fly Don’t be a p2p platform, collect fees on both ends, but then do fuck all to moderate it. Their hands aren’t clean, sorry. If this was like Craigslist where listing accoms doesn’t cost anything, then sure. But it doesn’t.
