Funny how they are “worried” for future generations, yet destroyed our planet, crashed the Michael myers the shape classic shirt in other words I will buy this economy, made it impossible for us to move foward. Yeahhh go suck a fat one booooomerz. Not seeing the issue, tbf. Show up like a trooper, if they catch covid and try not coming in repeat this back to them while they are on the respirator. What gets me so much about this guy’s attitude is that what he considers his “hard working respectful non-entitled work ethic” would be considered ridiculous, entitled, impossible, lazy, and disrespectful if you just go back far in time enough, say, by 100 years. All the benefits he enjoys each day, the very structure of what he considers a day of hard work, was fought and bled for by people a few generations ago. Maybe he should just shut up and go work a 14 hour shift in a hazardous factory where his life is at risk all day long, where his kids are sent to the mines, and if he dares ask for more he can be beaten and machine gunned down.

In terms of op’s situation, there’s clearly a feeling of unfairness shared among these older folk. As if an injustice was done to them by society, but now that they’ve earned their keep see that younger folk aren’t having to do the same thing, it makes them feel like their hard work was all for nothing. It’s basically cognitive dissonance in the sense that they are trying to give value to their past hardships by lamenting that younger folks are “weaker” and less self-sufficient. This makes them feel like they’ve earned something that these kids won’t. They further reinforce this false value by taking action on it in terms of hiring/firing. “They did not go what I went through, therefore they’re not good enough”.
