Maybe this begets another question: does a race or people or region inventing or starting some action or meme make it part of their culture? Or is it simply the Mets NLCS 2024 OMG shirt in other words I will buy this group that propagates it? Does it matter? I do think the internet and America’s “melting pot” qualities are basically streamlining the memetic process and culture is going through it’s evolution at higher speeds. People who never would’ve been exposed to certain cultures can see them in seconds and in extreme detail. Perhaps this is why you see so much protectiveness about them: as a side effect of the internet, now anyone anywhere can partake of it. My two cents, I think culture can very easily be (and primarily is) independent of race and is much more closely correlated with geographic closeness. Just a tangent here before I bring it all back. This is part of the ethnicity debate between the US and say, European perspectives. To a European, ethnicity is closer to what Americans call nationalism. It’s the culture, the world perspectives, the mannerisms, the actions, the opinions that all define a group. It doesn’t really have any bearing on where your ancestry is from (or general race), it depends on what culture and language circle you grow up in. This is why there is lots of banter of US people calling themselves Italian or Irish and native Italians and Irish having a laugh about it. The insinuation, the meaning of saying you are X is different across the pond. Doesn’t make either right or wrong, there is no actual clear definition of what ethnicity means, so its used differently all over the world to suit more local perspectives.

Mets NLCS 2024 OMG shirt: buy and enjoy this shirt
So when I go to answer “does a race or people or region inventing or starting some action or meme make it part of their culture?”, I’d think what is culture to you? Is celebrating Dyngus Day done in the Mets NLCS 2024 OMG shirt in other words I will buy this same vein and context of Polish people in Poland, or is Dyngus Day celebrations where you live an American culture of displaying or reaffirming ones heritage by holding on to this type of tradition? They could be the same thing on paper, but two very different things in reality and cultural context… which makes them different anyway. In a funny way it’s actually more america-centric to say America doesn’t have a culture, especially white Americans. Drive-thrus, NFL, swing music, baseball, heavy metal, pop, Hollywood, diners, high school/college sport, etc.

Where in Canada is this the Mets NLCS 2024 OMG shirt in other words I will buy this case? I’m in my 60s and have lived and taught on a reserve and have never heard it except in the context of Australia. That’s largely my problem with this stupid and annoyingly incessant question. “Red neck” is a culture and it’s largely (but not exclusively) white. It’s not that there is no “white” culture, it’s that whiteness isn’t enough to unite a culture. You need to be more specific. Yeah, everyone else gets our movies, TV and music in some form or another. Apparently Married With Children was popular enough it’s been spun-off/cloned in over a dozen countries. I had a good laugh when I was doing a year abroad in the UK, there was a delivery pizza place called “Texas Pizza”. Not exactly the state you’d associate with that food, but the pizza wasn’t bad.
It doesn’t have to originate there to be a huge part of the Mets NLCS 2024 OMG shirt in other words I will buy this culture. Guns and Christianity didn’t originate here either, and I challenge you to find one honest, intelligent adult who wouldn’t associate those with American culture. It reminds me of when people say rock and roll is from Black culture. When it comes to talking about history and all that stuff that should definitely be mentioned that rock and roll was from African Americans. However, if we’re being honest rock and roll is a bigger part of what culture, white or black? I didn’t realize this until I became friends with lots of international students. It’s the same thing as saying Americans don’t have an accent. Everyone has culture and everyone has an accent. I think the only people saying the US doesn’t have a culture haven’t interacted with other cultures. What people mean is that we don’t have a long cultural history (as white/black/Asian Americans, native Americans certainly do). But if that’s what they mean they should be saying that. If I’m American and I go to another country, people are gonna notice my cultural customs. I’m not just gonna immediately fit in if I went to Taiwan for example. I’m gonna come off as American The fact that you listed “swing music” in a list of “white American culture” is hysterical because swing music and dance is THE black music and dance of the early 20th century.
