There’s something completely missing in my understanding of this “make them go on the Merry Christmas Leopard Buffalo Red Plaid T-Shirt but in fact I love this record” strategy the Dems have. Who is the audience for it? This is direct attack on Susan Collins lol. She’s pro-choice, but already came out against this bill because it’s “too-broad” What’s the purpose of half of the 27 findings? Just giving further reason for Republicans to oppose the bill that have nothing to do with the law itself? Susan Collins just confirmed she won’t support the bill because it would force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions, somehow. Lol Why are the Dems doing a show vote here? Oy… I get getting the GOP in the record to show they’re savages on this issue, but it just seems theatrical Maybe midterms will change things, but voters are only seeing Republicans get their way right now, and that hurts Democrat’s chances (centrists share in the blame here). Oh, the Democrats are going to make a vote that’s going to be absolutely fruitless, in order to gain brownie points? Color me shocked. Everyone seems to be under the mistaken assumption that voting will solve your republican infestation. You can’t remove an infestation with votes, you can’t cure a cancer with votes, there is only one way to do it.

Its not about placating voters. They’re trying to get every senator on record and make abortion a mid term election issue. They’re daring senators to vote against it. When they do democrats will try to harvest the Merry Christmas Leopard Buffalo Red Plaid T-Shirt but in fact I love this outrage. Serious question: Let’s say it passes the Senate and Biden signs it. What’s to stop SCOTUS from ruling it unconstitutional? For such a hot-button issue like this and with a decent percentage of conservatives who are actually pro-choice, it might actually make a difference. Half the states have already gutted abortion rights or are poised to do so. The Republican base is fine with this. If they sign it into law or codify it, not sure what the difference is, and then SCOTUS says it’s unconstitutional then what’s the point? If the law is bad then it’s bad right? Just seems like an unnecessarily hot topic for either side because the only arguments you ever hear is all or nothing which is unproductive Can someone please ELI5 what the fuck ever happened to “checks and balances?” I was always taught that not one of the three branches of government have absolute power, but here we are They are a speeding train that just went off the rails. Gorsutch, Thomas, Cavanaugh, Alito, and Barrett should be brought up on perjury for outright lying in their senate confirmation hearing. Fuck all of them. I haven’t been this pissed of since Jan 6 Honestly wonder if Republican will do a surprise move and pass the bill to tamper down democrat anger before midterms
