Teddy almost certainly would have eventually been elected president if not for his negligent homicide. Instead he had to settle for Senator for Life and remaining very influential, akin to Pelosi’s term in the Maxx Crosby Las Vegas Raiders MORE shirt moreover I love this House. Teddy helped accomplish many positive things as Senator, but he was also the living embodiment of what’s wrong with the permanent political establishment. He certainly would have run (I mean he did in 1980 despite it) sooner, been an overwhelming favorite for the Democratic nomination, knew how to debate and give a rousing speech, and had the political chops to be president. But it wouldn’t surprise me though if he lost one of his presidential elections — especially if he first went up against Nixon in ’72. Like if you think of recent political dynasties, everyone expected Jeb Bush to be the Republican nominee in 2016 and HRC to be the Democratic nominee in 2008 and they both were huge front runners in the political donor game. (Jeb was always considered the more experienced politician).

Or without the Maxx Crosby Las Vegas Raiders MORE shirt moreover I love this dynasty aspect, everyone though DeSantis was going to have an easy path to be the RNC nominee in 2024 after the 2022 midterms. It’s probably because I’m from West Virginia and we have a very special recollection of JFK and his time spent here engaging with us. Yeah, I’m just under 50 but remember my (Massachusetts first-generation Irish Catholic) grandmother who loved the Kennedy family; JFK & RFK were virtual saints and Ted Kennedy fought the good fight (despite unfortunate Chappaquiddick incident that stopped him from being president). On the flip side, there’s zero chance she would have voted for RFK Jr running for (1) being a conspiracy theorist anti-vaxxer, and (2) being an Independent. (She also died around the same time Ted Kennedy died which was 14 years ago at this point).
