(genuine question, i don’t listen to music so i’m not aware of the discourse) Songs that get covered are usually classics, and if it’s a classic you can bet your ass there are people out there who are willing to throw fists in its defence. while alone: oh i can’t concentrate on the music while listening to it and doing something else, the same with audiobooks For most songs most people couldn’t care less, but in this specific case it’s a cover that is almost universally hated, even by fans of the new band in question. On top of that it’s a cover of one of the most well liked and known songs by a band that is up there among the Beatles and Rolling Stones as one of the most influential bands of all time. Because it feels like you’re discrediting the original artist by claiming their song was written by someone who actually adapted it. Which cover are you talking about? I’ve never heard anything other than the Kana Hanazawa version from Bakemonogatari (the one used in memes) that’s the original, and the only one I’ve heard as well so I’m also not familiar with what they’re talking about
