I guess bees generate a lot of heat when they do this. Many many forms of honeybee don’t sting people when they are busy doing something like swarming or tending to queen stuff, simply out, they just don’t think it’s worth the energy and iirc they can only sting once before dying depending on the species. In fact most insect bites, barring carnivorous ones, result from insects thinking they are going to get smushed, either in a shirt, or in a glove, or just too close to somebody who is moving threateningly around them. While normal bees, when upset, might follow you for 10 feet or so, these Africanized may follow you for 100 feet or more. When new queens form, after a couple of weeks they will leave the hive to go mate with drones. Drones somehow have meeting spots where they will fly to from various hives in the area and just wait for a queen to come around. When a new queen makes it to the area, the drones will race to go and mate with her, which injects their semen into the queen. Afterwards, their testicles explode with an audible pop and they fall dead. Their semen will stay with the queen for life, though. The new queen will then return home and begin laying eggs using the sperm from the drones she mated with. If one of the drones she mated with happened to be from an Africanized hive, their dna will start to spread throughout the hive as eggs are laid and hatched. This is when you’ll start seeing more of that aggressive behavior.
