Marc Stampley’s Georgia Southern Eagles are off to a 2-0 start in the 2023 season after a convincing victory over the Morgan State Bears last Saturday. Stampley, who is in his first season as the Eagles’ head coach, has his team playing with confidence and swagger.

The Eagles’ defense has been particularly impressive, allowing just 13 points through two games. They have forced seven turnovers, including three interceptions. The offense has also been clicking, averaging over 400 yards per game. Quarterback Kyle Vantrease has thrown for 560 yards and five touchdowns, while running back Jalen White has rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Stampley is pleased with the team’s start, but he knows there is still a lot of room for improvement. “We’re 2-0, but we’re not where we want to be yet,” Stampley said. “We have a lot of things to work on, but I’m confident that we’re going to get there.”

The Eagles have a tough test this week when they travel to face the No. 24-ranked Clemson Tigers. Clemson is a perennial powerhouse, and they will be a major challenge for the Eagles. However, Stampley is confident that his team can compete with anyone.

“We’re going to go into Clemson and play our game,” Stampley said. “We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re not going to back down. We’re going to go out there and give it our best shot.”
The Eagles are hoping to make a statement against Clemson. A win would give them a signature victory and boost their confidence going into the rest of the season.
The Eagles have a lot of potential this season. They have a talented roster and a coach who believes in them. If they can continue to improve, they could be a contender in the Sun Belt Conference.
