I can buy this. He seems like someone who’d become hyper fixated on one particular thing and never shut up about it. Someday I’ll get so rich and powerful I’ll build my own world where I’ll have friends and everyone will like me. I maybe in the LvI super bowl LA rams champions cheer shirt In addition,I will do this minority here but metaverse is going to be a much bigger phenomenon than internet. I can’t wait to see advancements in this field. I’m pretty sure I’ll never be onboard with virtual surreality. Much like 3d anything, it never gets off of the ground. Unless you have the pipe dream of a Star Trek holodeck thing where it’s tangible, not influenced by external things – ex. other people, commercial interests, and biases – it would be an unpleasant experience. I don’t need a cartoon I can walk through trying to sell me virtual products and upgrades or trying to change my mind about something. When you can’t find a way to fail in reality/on Earth, time to go to Metaverse/space to see if you can fail there. Also greatly increased the number of nasty ppl you have to deal with and waste your time. It’s like, he thinks if he says it often enough it becomes a good idea even though literally no one wants to throw money at his idea. I want a Metaverse like Ready Player One and Zuck isn’t gonna fucking make that happen, fuck him, delete insta, FB, Whatsapp. Nobody has ever been able to adequately explain to me just what the hell it’s supposed to be. From what little I’ve been told, it’s essentially a VR MMO but “not” a video game? Like, it’s 100% just VR meetups but with microtransactions? Like, you don’t really do anything, you just communicate. It’s VR Skype but a party line because anyone can see and hear you? It’s a VR municipal park without swingsets? I am enjoying hearing about this so far. An awful company is shifting focus into something that I cannot imagine possibly working, and it will be fun to watch them fail. I’m honestly confused with what direction Facebook wants to take oculus. I played a bit of HL:Alyx at a friend’s place in an valve index and ended up buying an Oculus quest 2 to play it. I’m incredibly impressed by the quest 2. It’s a great place of tech and has impressed me with it’s tracking both the controllers and your body.
