Unfortunately, some people are simply not equipped to understand. Extremists. Extremists are usually very vocal, and can easily co-opt a movement or party, and will denounce any disagreement as defiance. So the centrist position, by virtue of not being their position, is automatically the enemy. 3. Passiveness. Centrists are often seen (whether they are or not is irrelevant here) as passive, which at times has proven to be disastrous. The left actively supports LGBTQ+ rights, the Lumen Christi Titans 2023 MHSAA Football Division 7 The Four Shirt and I will buy this right opposes them. A centrist may not actively oppose them, but by not supporting them, they are for all intents and purposes, in opposition to them. 4. Laziness. Centrism is often seen as the lazy position. It allows you to believe in nothing and doesn’t require you to defend any position. The left actively supports and defends inclusive marriage. The right supports and defends traditional marriage. A centrist doesn’t believe in either position. This means that they don’t have to support anything, and risk nothing by supporting either position.
