Over in Montauk, Robert McKinley, the Love Wins Rainbow Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this designer behind Sant Ambroeus and Hudson’s Hotel Kinsley, is putting the finishing touches on an impeccably curated home called the McKinley Bungalow. Inside the concrete, low-slung home, painted in a muted volcanic tone, is mixture of new, found, and antique pieces: There are Floyd beds, Heath Ceramics, Phaidon cookbooks, Great Jones pots, cutting boards from a flea market in France, glasses from Sicily, vintage chairs in the style of Pierre Chapo. There’s a nook with a plump, ochre couch you just want to curl up on and bedrooms with crisp white sheets and rattan light fixtures. Greenery is abundant: cactI, palms, and monsteras, softening nooks and crannies with their earthy, terracotta-pot presence. Out of some windows, you can see the ocean. “There’s a Sicilian influence, a Middle Eastern influence, a Montauk influence,” explains McKinley. “We always get inspired by homes in the Mediterranean owned by global travelers.”

Love Wins Rainbow Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

This is his and his wife, Kate Nauta’s, third McKinley Bungalow: they did their first namesake rentable residence back in 2018. Not only is every piece in the Love Wins Rainbow Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this home an aesthetic treat for the eye, but, if you want, you can purchase the decor for yourself. The third iteration, however, is slightly different from its predecessors in a distinct way: while those were predominately summer houses, this one is designed to be enjoyed year round. (For example: yes, the living room has seashells, but it also has an Italian wood-burning stove.) Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Montauk, once a Memorial Day to Labor Day destination, now attracts those seeking fresh air in every season. Nor is the property meant for weekenders. McKinley says there will be a minimum stay of 5 days, with the option to rent it months at a time. “We just want to feel like a home, some place you can relax, no matter what season it is,” says McKinley.
