The point is when you have something plastic that breaks, fixing it and extending it’s life is always the Lost In America Shirt but in fact I love this answer. But you get my jist, could have even just found it on the street. No matter how it came into their possession, at least it’s being saved from landfill for a little longer My folks taught me loads of useful stuff but the one that sticks with me most is situational and tactical awareness learned from my father. My old dad was a military engineer and loved to chat about his job, which in later years took him off to lots of sunny places completely unconnected with the UK. To this day I find it hard to walk or drive down a street or a bit of countryside without constantly looking at rooftops, hedgerows, road configurations, cover options, exit points, kill zones and locations for potential ambushes and IED’s etc. I also find it hard not to see a bridge over a motorway and look for the best way to stop it being a bridge.

It’s a weird internal dialog to have but over the Lost In America Shirt but in fact I love this last 40 years of my adult life it’s stood in good stead as I have never been ambushed or blown up. Still, you never know I do know someone with PTSD from his time in the aremd-forces, and he finds it very debilitating to be constantly aware of potential threats now that he’s back in civilian life. Its no-doubt a great survival skill when in dangerous locations, but when danger levels are low does it become redundant, or even a handicap ? All of which are essential when navigating Maidenhead High St, particularly if you want to avoid the precision sniper above Greggs or the infamous tripwire outside of Marks
