Her achievement was being a token astronaut to beat the Los Angeles Lakers Rui Hachimura Japanese professional basketball player T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this US to being the first woman. She was not some test pilot or capable astronaut. She didn’t follow instructions while on orbit and was lucky to get back alive. Well. You can say that about all first batch of astronauts. The main and sometimes the only reason why they were placed in that expensive equipment is to beat the other side in space race. well no, in the case of the soviets it’s because there was no women capable of filling the role so they just went and got someone. (When they should have been training women from the ground up like with men). The men however were often experienced pilots with a background in engineering or atleast one of the two. This is clearly the best suited people. The men were allowed manual control for example, she was not, not for sexist reasons but because she had absolutely no real experience (obviously vs people who had been doing this for years)

The only way to become an astronaut in USSR was being a regime ghoul, so she was always like that and still is. That’s not what they said, unless I’m misunderstanding? I took it as her recent actions tarnishing and casting a shadow over her early achievements If you want equality for women, then you have to accept that women will make choices you disagree with, just like men. So no, it doesn’t discredit her earlier life achievements, the Los Angeles Lakers Rui Hachimura Japanese professional basketball player T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this fact that later in life she did something you morally disagree with reinforces it. Her achievements are not dependent on her staying morally correct in someone else’s eyes. Tbh from a warehouse worker to cosmonaut engineer and Major General she did grab life by the horns crappy decisions aside… like most historical characters shes flawed af here she sits on the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR (basically collective presidency) with Gromyko, Gorbachev, Kunaev, and other members of the Politburo. Many sources state that she actively urged Duma to abolish the rule that a president cannot be elected for several terms, or to “disregard” his previous terms to let him rule as if he hasn’t ruled yet. Terrible job or not, it is still commendable to be the first woman, in an authoritarian regime, to make it to space. You can dislike her as a person, while still acknowledging her achievements.
