Not saying either approach is correct or wrong, it’s just a choice of a country to be positioned this way. There’s certainly pros and cons. I can only assume this is due to factors such as union strength of blue collar workers in Europe/UK IMHO overall in Europe, there a glass ceiling where for every € you earn, half belongs to the Country (taxes, social insurance, pension), making it hard to increase beyond that. It’s like if i wanted to earn the double after taxes equivalent of my normal salary, would take/cost as 3-4 normal employees, a boss would rather hire more people than having one paid extremely well. The USA is the wealthiest country in the world and will most likely stay that way for the rest of our lives. This gargantuan economic difference between us and the next 20 countries allows professionals to make much more than our friends over at Europe.

Education system creating solid professionals, which in turn not only creates domestic demand, but international demand too And before anyone starts crying about their NHS, US workers that are getting paid a lot, also get really good benefits, one if which is amazing proactive health insurance for them and their family and that covers dentists! Childcare alone in the US (I am talking about an infant, for us was 2,300 per month). But also the fact that moms have to return to work after 12 weeks or stop working, can really cut into a budget. Food is way cheaper here BUT also…..(and this is changing a bit) less chemicals. I know that wasn’t part of the question but a side note.
