We’re fucking about, the teacher makes some comment like [paraphrasing]: “If you keep fucking about, I will make you all stay after to make sure you actually finish these questions – for as long as it takes. And I would rather you didn’t, because I’m meeting an friend this evening for drinks.” I don’t know why I did this, I can’t explain it, it was like I was compelled to do it. I remember opening my mouth and thinking “why am I about to say this” and I couldn’t stop myself. But in the silence that followed the teacher’s threat, I just said a name. It was completely random. I just said it. It was stupid and weird and I got some flak for it. I don’t know why I did it. The crazy thing is I remember perfectly what was happening before and after my remark… but I can’t remember what the name was anymore. That’s my utterly dumb “supernatural” story. I don’t believe I’m psychic, or that there were “ghosts”. It just bugs me because I know I don’t understand why it happened. Even if I had somehow heard the maths teacher mention that name before (maybe I somehow overheard it in passing, if he was talking to another teacher at a different time during the day? But I really doubt that), I don’t know why I felt so compelled to say it. I was a quiet kid, I clearly remember the panic in me that I couldn’t stop myself from speaking in the silence.

I suddenly stopped talking and jerked my hand upwards, making the phone sign (thumb and pinkie out) to my ear. Then the phone rang. My mum looked at me really weirdly that day. No idea why I suddenly jerked my hand up like that. Hey, I believe you- I’ve had instances like that in my life, as a youngun, a teen, and the adult age I’m at now (32). I don’t bring it up to people irl because it’s weirdly personal (vulnerable kinda?) and I don’t think we’re really inclined to believe others despite us all having had at least one strange thing happen to us throughout our lives. So yeah I believe you, cause this story sounds like things that have happened to me.
