Since he’s no way of contacting her, he assumes she’s moved away forever. Goes to station a few days in a row while he contemplates whether or not to take it, hopes she shows up (cue scene where her bff walks past, carrying a box of her stuff that she retrieves on her behalf to avoid problematic ex bf) but she herself doesn’t. He somewhat reluctantly succumbs and accepts the job, forcing his move and change of commute. Son is anti promotion because he won’t get to see him as regularly. Our hero tells him in a manner that shows he’s hurting, ‘it won’t matter much because son is often too busy with friends’. They both go to the same bar with their group of friends but don’t run into eachother (not facing eachother at tables/going to bathroom etc). Shes there with a group including ex bf to ‘see’ whether it can work again. Hes rude to wait staff. He goes to bar/bathroom. Bestie senses her mood. Friends ask about ‘whatever happened to?’ and both give wistful answers before becoming upbeat with friends.
