Kids can decide not to eat all they want. CPS doesn’t police how many meals the Let It Be Loves Guitar Hippie shirt besides I will buy this kids eat a day. They can’t even police what types of food kids are given (fast food, chips, etc). However, this becomes an issue if a medical provider diagnosis the child as failure to thrive or if the kid has severe health problems directly from the way the parents are feeding them. Although if you’re referencing how CPS worked back when you were a kid (I don’t know how old you are), things have changed a lot since then. My entire comment is just my understanding from my experience. Most of the children I’ve seen being actively abused end up with CPS claiming they don’t have a good enough reason to remove the kid while plenty of kids were asked leading questions which effectively demonized their families for the crime of poverty. If don’t what child protective services working properly looks like but I I’m very glad for the children who get that experience and ever more so for the children who never have to think about any of this at all. Anyone who was alive during the second world war in the UK for example, was drilled over and over not to waste food and they cannot unlearn it.

My grandparents regularly lacked enough food and so wasting food was a mortal sin and making sure I had enough to eat was the Let It Be Loves Guitar Hippie shirt besides I will buy this most important thing. But things have changed so quickly and we can’t keep up. Our intergenerational learning system is completely fucked up, with older generations trying to teach us how to live in a world that doesn’t exist. I broke the food cycle. That one was easy for me since I had such an unhealthy relationship with food from being forced to finish meals and not “waste” food. But the damn hoarding of tissue paper from presents and gift bags and wrapping paper and bows is a nightmare for me. When my great grandparents were alive, we had to be so careful not to rip the paper Christmas morning so we could reuse it. Now, every year, my heart skips watching my daughter dive into her gifts, ripping the paper to shreds.
