A general principle I follow – no driving before 7AM and after 7PM on a highway – this is an attempt to avoid driving in darkness. Better to make a pit stop for the night if I can’t squeeze in with these 12 hours. Every other aspect of planning the trip has to be worked out around this.

I have been in your position. think about the positives. if you are still feeling heavy and disturbed. bring everyone together and go for a shorter drive. it keeps your confidence high. before that make sure why you are doing this to your fellow passengers. While i did handle it well, the screams of my family is what made me feel worse . Mom, sister and Mama. Nothing major happened but I feel worse that I put them in such situation the first place.
