Portrait of Charlotte L. Because you’ve included so much fascinating correspondence from teachers and wives and fiancées and mothers. Why were those narratives so important?

Land Of The Fragile Home Of The Offended T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Being a girl, I love women. I love the Land Of The Fragile Home Of The Offended T-Shirt Besides,I will do this fact that our voices are silenced and loud at the same time. I can still remember things that my grandmother said to me that created a sense of protection.  But I say the same thing with the soldiers, that the women who taught them—these are both Black and white women, white women who were the wives of some of the lieutenants or the leaders of the troops, and the white women who left the North, such as Laura Towne, who left with Charlotte Forten to teach the newly free children and the soldiers. But it was important for me to elevate and create a sonic experience [around] these women based on the fact that they were teaching the men how to write, send letters to their families, and receive their pay—so that they could sign their names, not just an X. At the same time, some were washerwomen, there to help the men survive. The role of sanitation and cleanliness and health is a quiet story. Most of the men died because of unsanitary conditions, and the role of women was to clean the wounds, clean the clothes. So the labor of women expanded from the intellect to the body.
