Around the Lakers dunking keep flying shirt But I will love this age of 15 or 16, I started to realize I was bisexual. This added a great deal of emotional and spiritual distress to my life, and, being unable to talk to my parents about it, I turned to my friends in music and theater, and they gave me the support I needed to begin to understand myself. Around 19 or 20, I began to realize I was nonbinary, and similarly relied on my friends to help me understand what this meant. The Catholic Church, meanwhile, reaffirmed time and again that homosexuality and transitioning were both undeniable sins. During this same time, more and more reports were issued about the sexual abuse that continued into my teenage lifespan, and the discovery of thousands of native children found dead underneath Catholic institutions. I, like many others, had already departed from being a complete Catholic, but returned home for breaks and such. What were my parents upset about? What were they angry about, in front of 2 openly queer children and 1 closeted one (myself)? The drag queens. The drag queens and the “transgenders” and the “demonic” pansexuals.

Catholicism, is, at its core, as valid as any other religious belief. But there needs to be a reckoning within the Church to do something to evaluate it’s history, who it puts on a pedestal, and how it addresses it’s mistakes. There needs to be some sort of change – not just words, not apologies. Change. Some of these priests are still being protected. Some in this case were not on the list the Church gave of its own internal review. Even if there is good will to be found among those at the top, it is clear that a full upheaval is needed of the system, and yet it has not happened. I am sick and tired of my identity being attacked as sexual exploitative simply for my existence by the same people who are refusing to see the blatant problems here.
