The fact that actual answers are getting downvoted enough to only be found in controversial is sad and completely defeats the King of the hill hank classic shirt in contrast I will get this purpose of a post like this! I’m always happy when someone wants to drive faster than me. It means they’ll clear out any speed traps up ahead. Getting over for them is good for me, for traffic flow, and complies with the law. I-5 in northern California is awesome. If you’re not doing 90, the CHP are liable to pull you over for unsafe driving because you’re not going with the flow of the traffic. Idk which part of I5 you’re on, but when I drove on I5 there was no “passing lane” because the fucking highway was at or beyond capacity every day between 6am and 9pm. When the average bumper to bumper distance is less than 20 ft, traffic is too congested to treat one third of the flow volume as a transient lane (assuming a three lane highway). In my experience, slowpokes in the left lane are somewhat rare, but the comments here would make you think one in four drivers are gumming up the works. It makes me wonder if people are mistaking people not getting out of their way with traffic density being such that everyone wants everyone out of their way and what they’re feeling is just the speed of traffic, separate from the speed limit. I was once on my way to Reno using i-80 and had a guy blow past me doing at least 90, about 10 minutes up the road he was pulled over and I laughed, then like 20 minutes later he passed me again, some people never learn. I think they think they are going fast enough and think it’s ok because they are driving at the speed limit. Not to say they are right, but I’m guessing that’s the mindset.

Except for the King of the hill hank classic shirt in contrast I will get this woman in front of me last night driving 55 in a 70 mph zone, in the passing lane. Too busy chatting with her passenger to notice me behind her for 2 miles, my flashing my brights 3 different times, and finally only moved over when I honked. WTF? Line of 8-10 cars behind me the entire time, and trying to pass on the right around semi trucks. I’m livid. It’s DANGEROUS to have vehicles flying in and out of right-hand lanes because this idiot isn’t even looking at the world around her! SO frustrating! I’ve kind of done this myself. Speed limit 65. Guy in right Kahn going 62. I pass him at 65. Someone shows up going 80 and expects me to speed up. I will get out of the way when I can (unless they’re a cunt who whips around me on the right) but I don’t owe them breaking the law and/or bring unsafe so they don’t have to slow. If my exit is on the left but I’m not sure what traffic looks like then I will just stay in the left; or if the right lane is going to end and I don’t want to battle last minute to merge, I will stay in the left then as well.
