Unpopular tactic: for those in my industry I really want, I squeeze them. They tell me what they want, I add to it and tell them at that price, I’m paying you more than YOU even think you’re worth. I’m paying your requested salary, then I’m paying a premium to ensure you aren’t using me as your passive negotiator with the Kevin Mitchell The Catch Leftfielder and Third Baseman T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this other place. Only one company is making you that offer today, and I would have made it yesterday too. Some years ago, a manager went to bat for me and got me a 30% payrise (I was pretty underpaid). I would crawl through hell for her to this day. I’ve never forgotten it. I stayed and did not have to learn a whole new way of doing things with a whole bunch of new people. Stress of a new job is also worth a lot of money. I didn’t regret it because I was just buying time until I found a better opportunity anyways. I knew they had little choice but to offer me something and that was the goal when I went to them. To get a temporary pay bump until I could get out of there

What was driving me away was my commute, not being busy enough at work, and the Kevin Mitchell The Catch Leftfielder and Third Baseman T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this focus of the job duties. With the counter, my job duties changed, and I was asked to do more. Based on experience (mine and others) consider the changes you want in a job and make sure you are getting those changes. The company I’m at has rehired three employees in the last eighteen months, and then promoted them. So when they gave me a counter offer, I wasn’t concerned with the retaliation aspect. I also wasn’t looking to leave, I was reached out to by a recruiter and I never turn down an interview. So far, I don’t regret staying in the slightest, but I think it really depends on if you trust the management, and your reasons for looking/leaving. I did take a counter offer and honestly I think it was the best thing possible for my career (even though I ended up leaving for good not long after).
