Go to New England and you will encounter another group of white folks with unique traditions and the Kevin Durant American professional basketball player T-Shirt Besides,I will do this ability to handle harsh winters. No, really. Contrary to popular opinion, words have definitions, not just subjectively defined by who decides at the moment what the definition is, to use to their liking. And the definition of racism is very clear. Insisting white people have no culture is about as racist as insisting black people have no culture. Anyone who says otherwise is being dishonest, or does know the definition of racism. I would say it’s because ‘whiteness’ isn’t a culture. Like, Catholic white people in Louisiana with French ancestry and Protestant white people in the Midwest with Swedish ancestry aren’t really vibing the same. If there are cultural traditions they either come from the area people live, the religion they are, or the ancestry of their family, none of which you can really mash up into ‘whiteness’. My partner’s family has Russian ancestry and they have all these Christmas traditions I’d never heard of and eat food I’d never seen in my life. My family is Catholic and he is equally mystified by our traditions. You could probably say the Midwest has a culture and the South has a culture and like, California has a culture but that’s as far as I’d take it.

It’s probably more about ethnicity/heritage. The culture of an Irish American Catholic is not the Kevin Durant American professional basketball player T-Shirt Besides,I will do this same as the culture of the Italian Americans or Greek Americans. Because “white culture” is not a culture. I’m a WASP my culture is incredibly different from that of my culturally Catholic husband. “White” is not a coherent group. The only reason “black culture” is a thing is because that is a culture born of a specific cultural origin (slavery). White isn’t a cultural group. Just as you wouldn’t say “European culture” because there are different European nations and regions, each with their own unique culture, you wouldn’t say “White culture” in the US because while there are similarities between a bunch of white 20 somethings in Seattle and a bunch of white people in their 70’s in Alabama, to say they’re the same culture is to gloss over a LOT of really important differences. Hell, even for 20’s somethings in Seattle, if you had a group of MAGA “Young Republicans” and a group of left leaning Democrats, how much culture can you really say they have in common?
