In this market be flexible. It’s heading down pretty fast in some places and others will catch up. Back in 2010 we had a hard budget and found a place we both loved at 25% over budget. We were patient. Made an offer and they countered and then we end up about 5% over budget with a house we didn’t even imagine having Find the Keldon Johnson American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs T-Shirt But I will love this cheapest shack for the lowest amount you can find in that area, send it to them and tell them you just put an offer in on it. What’s your financial capability? There is a big difference between we can’t afford it vs I don’t want to pay that much for it What are you, your spouse and your family going to go when you overreach on a mortgage and suffer a job loss or $50,000 foundation repair, new roof, new AC, new furnace or all of the above? What are you going to do when they want you to get a new deck, bathroom, addition, etc? Red flags dude.

Are you guys not on the Keldon Johnson American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs T-Shirt But I will love this same page on how much you want to spend on the house? Or is she just not capable of understanding what is your budget and why you cannot magically pay a few hundred thousand more? Does your wife actually want to buy an $800k house or is she on the same page as you regarding budget? If shes on the same page, maybe just tell her you arent opening any zillow postings over $xx. If she is not on the same page, well, you guys have to get on the same page somehow. Ignore your parents/inlaws. They are useless for this unless they are pitching in. Tell your wife and mom to step it up and pony up the extra money. You don’t need to feel stressed or burdened. Your good stick to your budget:grin: It is not you don’t earn much it is them don’t have logical thinking about reality, budget and house price range.
