The input buffering is massively too strong. There should be a blocking mechanic for dual wield and non shield users ala sekiro where you deflect with well timed blocks. Really to sum up my dissapointment, they didn’t depart enough from ds3, stance and block counters are cool but it’s not enough, it’s not involving enough. I wish they got rid of parry in it’s incarnation. I think it’s boring and outdated now. I wish they had taken influence from Sekiro and expanded the ‘stance’ system that enemies have as well as allowing non-collossal weapons to deflect with timing, that has chip and stamina damage but allows a flowing combat and where a ‘parry’ ability would instead do the bounce off effect that shields do that makes the attacker lose a lot of stamina/stance and allowing moment for hit but not a critical. Maybe stamina breaking a player allows a crit. I think this would have made a lot of bosses more fun and combat a little bit less based on evasion and more confrontation.
