The problem is that the KawhI leonard signature shirt moreover I love this Supreme Court us an inherently undemocratic institution and is extremely susceptible to partisanship. An unpopular president can stack the court and completely change the face of US law for an entire generation with no input from the people. The idea of a life-term is great for several reasons but it only works if the parties agree not to rat fuck it. Term limits don’t solve the issue of the biological age roulette where a party that randomly happens to be in power when a SCOTUS judge dies or retires impacts the future of the USA for decades. Judges will just be changed more often and ellections will end up being even more politized because it will be known when a judge will retire. Depending on circumstances you can get an ultra conservative supreme court even with term limits just that it will be for shorter periods of time. A very simple short term solution which can be a achieved with a simple majority in congress is to make SCOTUS judges be appointed with 75% of the vote in the senate just like a constitutional amendment would. This would mean that the appointed SCOTUS judges will at least be moderate and would not twist the constitution for one side or the other.

In case the KawhI leonard signature shirt moreover I love this Senate fails to appoint a SCOTUS judge with 75% of the vote then ellections should be held and the american people will be able to ellect a judge directly. Or until they reach 90% the average life expectancy of the citizens of the country, where that age is determined on an annual basis. And that would also give incentive to promote the welfare of the people. It should be a form of a conflict of interest if you have a high chance of being dead before the ramifications of your political decisions are realized and felt by the general public. This might be crazy but… How about we just get rid of them entirely? Why in the hell do 9 people have the power to make such important decisions for everybody? The Supreme Court is insanely undemocratic. They represent us even less than our actual congressmen, which is close to 0.
