I was already a feminist before I had daughters but my resolve for gender equality has been strengthened by the experience of raising young women. How much the reality of women’s experiences in terms of having to work harder and deal with bullshit starts when they are young children. And related: how the practice of women tearing each other down and often not supporting each other starts really early with young girls being mean and needlessly competitive with each other.
