Just nah, people should stop romanticizing country as a whole Lol, my adopted brother said after he has lived in the US for a few years “it’s shit”. He was living a good life in Vietnam enjoying his leasing and carefree. Now he lost like 20 pounds. He only stayed in the US because his entire family live there. “Good” is case by case. You don’t automatically live a good life when you move to a different country. You have to think about what you gain and lose. In Vietnam being rich is like living in heaven compare to average US citizens. Especially when you own your own job and you are your own boss, no ot, no 9 to 5, no bull shit.

Well Vietnam can be really great in some aspects and shitty in others. I imagine it’s the Just A Girl Who Loves Hot Cocoa Santa Hat Leopard Christmas T-Shirt But I will love this same for the US. It’s more about making the most of what you have really. Yeah, it’s more about you than the country. Tho if you want to have easy chill life, US is not on the top of the list by a long shot. I would go somewhere like New Zealand instead. Even with minimum wage, you work 2-3 days a week assure you basic life rent and decent food. The rest of the working days can be spent on something else. I always consider European countries better than the US but I cannot say clear about why for each countries since I only experienced living in NZ. From what I have read I think Western Europe has better living standard. The US is not terrible depend if you want to live in certain places with the Viet community or not too, some specific reasons like having good relatives or cannot speak English for example. So I just say it base on the working and living condition like healthcare, price etc instead. Insurance and healthcare in the US is notoriously shit, without insurance you pay like a grand for tooth removal, thing sometimes even be done for free in fricking Vietnam. The most radical anti-commie Vietnamese are Northerners and their children, who immigrated to the South in Operation Passage to Freedom in 1954. Their families had to flee Communism twice (losing everything in the process) so that’s why they are so bitter.
